"The effects of Taekwondo stay with the student long after the class has ended. Several skills learned in the Do Jang embed themselves into our daily lives.
Physical strength is an obvious by-product of regular training. Practicing kicks, punches, sit-ups and push-ups not only help the student become a stronger martial artist, hey help the student become a more poised and confident person.
Mental clarity is always an important benefit. Clearing the mind for an hour a day of any outside problem or issue is incredibly helpful in becoming more mentally balanced. When in class, as you focus solely on the training, everything else evaporates.
More often than not, after this clearing of the mind, everyday life problems seem much smaller than they previously appeared.
A student can expect to learn leadership by teaching a lower ranking student a form or difficult maneuver. Obviously, this translates into leadership skills dealing with work, family and school. The teacher becomes a more patient and articulate person.
Courage can be learned by sparring an opponent. If one learns to keep composure while in the face of immediate danger, most of life's challenges will soon pale in comparison to this experience.
With regular training and patience, a student can expect to gain these valuable life skills."
